Dokoro is a demon in the light novel Genrou Den. Imprisoned in Mt. Reikaku, this shape-shifting demon is characterized by its floral scent that subdues human consciousness.

History[]

Over 300 years ago, the Dokoro took over Mt. Reikaku. It used its ability to transform into a human to trick travelers and steal their money and valuables. When it would grow bored of mountain travelers, it would descend from the mountain to prey on the citizens of Souun.[1]

Armed with the tessen, a powerful, fire-spewing fan of its own creation, it deterred all efforts to resettle the mountain. For many years, the Dokoro was left alone to terrorize travelers and villagers alike.[1]

On a fateful day, a young man challenged the Dokoro. With its tessen, the demon attacked its foe. But its flames could not burn him. At this sight, the mountain god emerged from Mt. Reikaku and sealed the demon away. The mountain god declared that as long as someone with similar, fearless chi as the young man holds the tessen, the Dokoro will remain trapped in the mountain forever.[1]

Story[]

Genrou Den[]

Centuries after its imprisonment, the Dokoro's seal is broken. Having been imprisoned by a human, the demon, consumed by the desire for revenge, vows to destroy all humans and take back its tessen. To achieve this, the Dokoro devises a plan to let war break out within the four empires, starting with Konan.

In an attempt to incite a civil war in Konan, the demon disguises itself as a beautiful flower seller named Kyouan and sets its sights on Ougi, the Lord of Souun.
