Yukiyasha Den (雪夜叉伝 "The Legend of Yukiyasha") is a Fushigi Yuugi light novel by Yuu Watase and Megumi Nishizaki. Events of Nuriko's past play out against the backdrop of the small village of Yukigase and the local legend of a ruthless snow demon, Yukiyasha.

Story[]
Six years after Korin Cho’s death, Yukiyasha Den opens with a sixteen-year-old Nuriko, posing as "Korin," on his way to see his uncle, Sonjun, in a remote village called Yukigase. The village owes its namesake to its snowy mountain landscape, but it mysteriously has not snowed in nearly 100 years.
However, on the day Nuriko arrives, snowflakes begin to fall. He discovers that Sonjun has married a beautiful woman named Fuyoh and they announce that they're pregnant.
As it continues to snow, howls echo from the peak of the mountain, dubbed "Goddess Peak." When livestock and travelers are found dead on the trails, Nuriko finds himself caught up in a local legend where the villagers must appease a demon called Yukiyasha, who demands that the most beautiful virgin of the village must be sacrificed or else they will face certain destruction.
As the villagers begin to panic, a messenger from Eiyou comes seeking girls to join the Imperial Harem. He announces he will return in one week for the most beautiful girl in the village. But only two girls are truly worthy of going; Byakuren and "Korin."
The story soon reveals that Byakuren wants to join the harem to thank Emperor Cai Pi for saving her years ago. But her jealous wrath ensues when "Korin" receives praise from Tenbun, her older brother, and the other villagers.
Nuriko even encounters a fellow crossdresser, Tamatama, who sees through his disguise. While he teaches him the best ways to conceal his sex from even the most expert of eyes, Nuriko reveals his celestial destiny and his conflict between his roles of "Korin" and being a warrior.
