Fushigi Yuugi: Byakko Senki (ふしぎ遊戯 白虎仙記 Fushigi Yûgi: Byakko Senki, "The Chronicles of the Hermit/Wizard") is a Japanese manga series written by Yuu Watase. It began serialization by Shougakukan's Monthly Flowers magazine on August 28, 2017.
The series began with a one-shot story titled Fushigi Yuugi: Byakko Ibun that was released on February 28, 2015.
A prequel to Fushigi Yuugi: The Mysterious Play and a sequel to Fushigi Yuugi: Genbu Kaiden, it tells the story of the Priestess of Byakko, Suzuno Osugi, in the land of Sairou after she entered the Universe of the Four Gods.
Synopsis[]
Byakko Senki is the story of Suzuno Osugi, the Priestess of Byakko. It's not only her story, however: it will also show the backgrounds and adventures of her Seishi (Tatara, Subaru, Tokaki, etc.) It takes place 100 years (book time) after Genbu Kaiden (where Suzuno was briefly seen as an 8-year-old) and around 60-70 years before the original Fushigi Yuugi.

Publishing History[]
Byakko Senki began serialization in Shougakukan's Monthly Flowers magazine on August 28, 2017. The release schedule is every other month (6 chapters per year).
The first compiled volume was released in Japan on April 10, 2018, containing chapters 1-4.
Shortly before the release of chapter 6 in June 2018, Yuu Watase announced she was unable to complete the chapter on schedule and it would be delayed until the next issue of Monthly Flowers (October issue, released August 28). Due to various circumstances, including the author's health issues and her desire to finish her other current work Arata Kangatari, this did not happen and the series went on an hiatus that would last until 2024.
