Fushigi Yûgi Byakko Senki (ふしぎ遊戯 白虎仙記) roughly translated as Mysterious Play: Byakko Senki ー The Chronicles of the Hermit/Wizard is a Japanese manga series written by Yuu Watase. It began serialization by Shougakukan's Monthly Flowers magazine on August 28, 2017. The series began with a one-shot story titled Fushigi Yuugi Byakko Ibun (ふしぎ遊戯 白虎異聞) that was released on February 28, 2015. A prequel to Fushigi Yûgi and a sequel to Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden, it tells the story of the Priestess of Byakko, Suzuno Osugi, in the land of Sairou after she was entered into the Universe of the Four Gods.

Byakko Senki is the story of Suzuno Osugi, the Priestess of Byakko. It's not only her story, however: it will also show the backgrounds and adventures of her Seishi (Tatara, Subaru, Tokaki, etc.) It takes place 100 years (book time) after Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden (where Suzuno was briefly seen as an 8-year-old) and around 60-70 years before the original Fushigi Yuugi (Suzuno and Tatara died almost at the end of it)

This story expands on The Universe of the Four Gods and tells the story of the priestess of Byakko.

One-Shot Manga

Fushigi Yuugi Byakko Ibun (ふしぎ遊戯 白虎異聞; Fushigi Yugi: Curious Tales of the Byakko) is the sequel of the manga series Fushigi Yuugi Genbu Kaiden. It is also the prequel of the original series Fushigi Yuugi.

The manga was launched in the magazine Monthly Flowers on February 28.

This prequel also has the apparition of a foreign spellcaster named Nirusha, who turns out to be the younger and apparently still kind self of Miboshi from the Seiryuu Seishi. Said chapter focuses on him and his young friend Reipin, whom he renames Neiran and attempts to help against her tragic destiny.

Publishing History

Byakko Senki began serialization in Shougakukan's Monthly Flowers magazine on August 28, 2017. The release schedule is every other month (6 chapters per year).

The first compiled volume was released in Japan on April 10, 2018, containing chapters 1-4.

Shortly before the release of chapter 6 in June 2018 Yuu Watase announced she was unable to complete the chapter on schedule and it would be delayed until the next issue of Monthly Flowers (October issue, released August 28). Due to various circumstances this did not happen and the series went on hiatus.

Byakko Senki is still on indefinite hiatus.
