Kasaru Raotsue is the older brother of Tatara in Fushigi Yuugi: Byakko Senki. He is from Sasu, Sairou.

Story

Fushigi Yuugi: Byakko Senki

Kasaru was born the eldest son of Raotsue family in Sasu, a satellite state of Sairou. When he was a young adult, however, his village was wiped away by a vicious sandstorm, leaving the Kasaru and his younger brother Karumu the sole survivors. The two brothers traveled together from then on, seeking a suitable place to plant the seeds they took from their home.

One day, while traveling through the desert, Kasaru and Karumu come across a slain caravan and its two survivors: Suzuno Osugi and Neiran.

Following their short encounter, the brothers find Suzuno once again—this time in the middle of a sandstorm in the desert—along with Tokaki, and are shocked to see she has aged 10 years while only a couple of weeks have passed for them.

Shortly after reuniting, however, Miboshi attacks a nearby village, mortally wounding Kasaru while he is protecting Suzuno. He passes away in his younger brother's arms, his death and the attack from the Chāng Guǐ awakening Karumu's celestial powers.

Trivia

• Media previous to Fushigi Yuugi Byakko Senki Chapter 7, including but not limited to Tatara's trading card and a tweet from Yuu Watase cite Tatara as being "Kasaru", however, as of Chapter 7, it appears younger brother Karumu is actually Tatara.
• Although the brothers' surname is first given as "Raotsue", Kasaru later gives their last name as "Tsuonie". No information has yet been provided for the discrepancy.
