One-Shots (yomikiri) are short stories that were published in "Fushigi Yuugi: Perfect World "and "Monthly Flowers" magazines. Written by Megumi Nishizeki and drawn by Yuu Watase, this collection of stories cover the elements of some of the backstories of the Celestial Warriors.

Fushigi Yuugi: Byakko Ibun

(ふしぎ遊戯 白虎異聞; Fushigi Yugi: Curious Tales of the Byakko)

This prequel to Fushigi Yuugi: Byakko Senki was published in the magazine Monthly Flowers on February 28. The story revolves around a foreign spellcaster named Nirusha, who turns out to be the much younger and kinder Miboshi of the Seiryuu Warriors. The narrative follows him and his young friend Reipin, whom he renames Neiran, as he attempts to help against her tragic destiny.

The Prologue Of Korin

In this story, the members of the Cho Family are viewed from an unlikely perspective. Covering both before and after Korin’s death, this story delves into the family’s dynamic and the start of Nuriko’s journey to accept his role as a warrior.

Orega Onnagirai ni Natta Wake

Sailing on Hotohori’s imperial ship to Hokkan, a seasick Tasuki reveals his past to Miaka. In an episodic structure, he tells the story of each of his five sisters and the bullying he suffered at their hands, answering the age-old question: “Why does Tasuki hate women?”

This story goes into more detail regarding Suboshi and Yui's relationship, showing readers that their connection was much deeper than it was portrayed in the original manga/anime.

Kamen no Jutsuki

The tragic backstory of the master illusionist, Tomo, is finally revealed.
