Shu Eian is the reincarnation of the emperor Hotohori . He was first seen visiting Shu Tendo's (Hotohori's biological brother) grave.
Ko Reishun, Nuriko's reincarnation, took a great liking to Eian. They met in a merketplace and Eian had drawn Reishun's affections, much like Hotohori had drawn Nuriko's over ten years earlier.
