The Sou Family is a farming family who lived in Hakukou East of Konan’s Western capital, Eiyou. Family members are introduced in Fushigi Yuugi: The Mysterious Play and Tamhome's light novel, Shugyoku Den.

All accounts of the Sou family's mother are positive. Having died giving birth to Yuiren, the youngest daughter is seen as an extension of her mother.

The matriarch of the Sou family is a very kind, gentle farmer. He has done everything in his power to keep his family financially stable but his sudden illness makes the task more difficult. It ultimately fell on his eldest, Kishuku, to support the family. He is incredibly grateful and proud of his son and his status as a Celestial Warrior of Suzaku.
